I Have a New Puppy, Now What? Take The Anxiety Away From Your First Days With Your New Best Friend
I found Milo on www.petfinder.com. He was one of many other puppies that I was expressing interest in. But he was secretly my first choice.
The yellow Lab coloring reminded me of Candy, my yellow Lab mix when I was growing up.
So imagine my surprise when his foster mom called me and asked if I was still interested.
Of course, my answer was a resounding “YES.”
But… I had to wait TWO WHOLE WEEKS before bringing him home. He was too young to leave, and I could only pick him up on a Saturday because I work during the week.
Combine that with the fact that his foster mom is a nurse and works some Saturdays.
Two weeks to bring my baby boy home? The agony!
The silver lining is that I had plenty of time to do my research and get only the best for Milo.
I was determined to make this day as exciting as possible. After all, how often do we mark “Gotcha Day” on our calendars?
Milo’s new fur-ever home was going to be the start of a lifetime of health, happiness, and love.
Here are some steps I took to make the most of my dreadful two-week waiting period.
